This past saturday I had the honor of performing at WORDSILOG 4, an event that celebrated women's appreciation month. It's been a couple of months since my last performance, so I was a little apprehensive about it. I took the amtrak from the OC to San Diego. The sky was the color and texture of lint from the dryer, and tiny little drops were falling. It was perfect. I was wearing a tan trenchcoat and a black military hat with my guitar case in hand. I felt like a real traveling musician! Lily Anne the coordinator of the event, arranged for someone to pick me up from the train station. Yeah, I'm ready to be a diva any day now....

I finished producing a song that I had written for my grandmother called, Hands of Healing with the help of my hip hop master Deon, so I performed that first. It was alright, a little strange because I wasn't playing my guitar but belting it a la American Idol. My guitar is kinda like my bulky security blanket. I was relieved to have my guitar for me for the rest of the songs I performed-- This Time, Givin' In, and a new song I wrote called Chocolate Ice Cream.
